Making of: The Ikea Cookbook
It seems that Ikea, maker of subpar but cute looking cookware, has made a cookbook. The book, called Hembakat är Bäst (Homemade Is Best), seems pretty unique however, featuring Swedish recipes like Mandelmussla (almond shortbread topped with lingonberries) and Prinsesstårta (Princess Cake, sponge cake with a green marzipan covering). What really sets it apart though is the beautiful photography. Definitely categorized in the “food as art” realm, are the highly staged and geometric layouts of each recipe’s ingredients. I love the look, and the how-to, or almost science textbook nature of this. Here’s a link to quick “making of” video set to some techy beats.
